The Greener Grangetown consultation closed at the end of last week and we just wanted to say a big thank you to everybody who talked to us at the drop in events, got involved on twitter, emailed us and most importantly took the time to complete a questionnaire.

It’s going to take us a little time to sort through everything you’ve told us, but we will keep in touch to update you on progress.

 

Daeth ymgynghoriad Grangetown Werddach i ben ar ddiwedd yr wythnos diwethaf a hoffem ddiolch o waelod calon i bawb a siaradodd â ni yn y digwyddiadau galw heibio, a gymerodd ran ar Twitter, a anfonodd e-byst atom ac yn bwysicaf oll a lenwodd yr holiaduron.

Bydd angen ychydig o amser arnom i ystyried yr holl bwyntiau a godwyd, ond byddwn yn sicr o gadw mewn cysylltiad â chi i roi’r newyddion diweddaraf i chi.

I’m Martyn Evans, the Greener Grangetown project lead at Natural Resources Wales.

Natural Resources Wales is the principal adviser to the Welsh Government, and adviser to industry and the wider public and voluntary sector, about issues relating to the environment and its natural resources. Our aim is to make sure that the environment and natural resources of Wales are sustainably maintained, enhanced and used, now and in the future.

We’re delighted to be part of the Greener Grangetown partnership. We believe this exciting scheme can help create a healthy and resilient local environment that supports economic and social prosperity for generations to come.

We want to ensure Greener Grangetown delivers a wide range of benefits for the environment and the local community. The current street designs, for example, include installing attractive rain gardens and kerbside planting areas. These will not only enhance local biodiversity and wildlife, but deliver important improvements to water quality in the River Taff, and encourage water efficiency.

At the same time, by creating more green areas we’ll open up new opportunities for people to enjoy walking, cycling and other recreation close to where they live and work. More greenery and tree planting will also mean noise and pollutants should be better absorbed, and air will be cleaner too.

I’ve already gained valuable feedback from the community both on the doorstep and at the drop-in sessions. With your say, we can ensure the scheme not only delivers as many environmental and ecosystem benefits as possible for Grangetown, but also reflects local needs.

Er enghraifft, mae’r dyluniadau stryd yn cynnwys gosod gerddi glaw deniadol ac ardaloedd plannu ymyl y ffordd. Ni fydd y rhain ond yn gwella’r fioamrywiaeth a’r bywyd gwyllt lleol, ond hefyd yn gwella ansawdd dŵr Afon Taf, ac yn annog effeithlonrwydd dŵr.

Ar yr un adeg, drwy greu mwy o ardaloedd gwyrdd bydd rhagor o gyfleoedd i bobl fwynhau cerdded, beicio a gweithgareddau hamdden eraill wrth eu cartrefi a’u gweithleoedd. Bydd mwy o blanhigion a choed hefyd yn lleihau sŵn a llygryddion, a bydd yr aer yn lanach.

Rwyf eisoes wedi cael adborth gwerthfawr gan y gymuned ar garreg y drws ac yn ystod y sesiynau galw heibio. Gyda’ch barn chi, gallwn sicrhau bod y cynllun yn cynnig nifer o fuddion i amgylchedd ac ecosystem Grangetown gan hefyd fodloni anghenion lleol.
